As proclaimed in KBC’s slogan “Life is better on a bike” and on KBC jerseys, emblazoned with “Ride to Live – Live to Ride,” the primary focus of the Kalamazoo Bicycle Club is riding bicycles, enjoying ourselves while riding, and encouraging others to do the same.
Although many KBC members frequently ride alone or with a friend or two, another common activity is to participate in KBC’s Club Rides. These rides occur at regularly scheduled days and times during the week. Knowing the anticipated paces and routes of the rides can help KBC members, non-members, and visitors to the Kalamazoo area join rides that are happening.
For information about cancellations, less regularly scheduled rides, as well as impromptu rides go to the Kalamazoo Bicycle Club Discussion Group on FaceBook.
Riding safely – including following traffic laws – is of paramount importance to members of the Kalamazoo Bicycle Club. The KBC provides guidelines for Ride Safety so that everyone, members and non-members alike, can have a common understanding of what is expected from bicyclists riding on roadways.
KBC provides these Maps of routes typically followed during Club Rides (present and past), as well as other favorite routes submitted by KBC members, so that bicyclists can develop greater familiarity with good routes to ride.
The Kalamazoo Bicycle Club encourages all of its members to follow the rules of the road and to keep in mind that showing courtesy to motorists, pedestrians, and other bicyclists goes a long way whenever we are riding.
