The Kalamazoo Bicycle Club (KBC) welcomes charitable donations in support of its mission to promote bicycling in the greater Kalamazoo area. (See “Club Mission” at the About KBC (link) for a full description of what KBC does to promote bicycling.) While annual revenue from membership dues covers KBC’s operational costs, KBC depends on grants and charitable donations to carry out its educational programs, community events, and philanthropic endeavors that promote safe and enjoyable bicycling.
KBC has a history of generously supporting bicycling. Since 2015, KBC donated over $40K to entities like AMBUCS, KalamazooStrong, the Kalamazoo River Valley Trail, League of Michigan Bicyclists, and the Maple Hill Trail. In addition, for well over a decade members of KBC have volunteered their time to put on events and programs like KalTour and Bike Camp. All of these efforts to support and encourage bicycling in the Kalamazoo region are sustained and enhanced with help from benefactors.
Charitable contributions (donations) to the Kalamazoo Bicycle Club are tax deductible. The Kalamazoo Bicycle Club, Registered Charity No. 38-2285331, is an IRS 501(c)(3) entity. Public information about the KBC held on file with the IRS can be found at this link – Kalamazoo Bicycle Club’s IRS Charity Search page.
Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) are a convenient and tax-free way for donors 70½ or older to make gifts directly from an IRA to 501(c)3 organizations, including the Kalamazoo Bicycle Club. Click here for more information about QCDs.
If your donation is $250 or more, please contact treasurer@kalamazoobicycleclub.org for an official receipt for tax purposes.
Unless specified otherwise, charitable donations are deposited in KBC’s Programs and Grants fund and are allocated as needed by the KBC Executive Committee to support programs, events, and cycling -related philanthropy. If your donation does not align with a current KBC activity, the KBC Executive Committee will make every effort to pass your donation along to another bicycling-oriented entity in the Kalamazoo area (for example – Bike Friendly Kalamazoo, the Kalamazoo River Valley Trail, or Open Roads).
Donations to KBC can be made – using PayPal or a credit card – by clicking the button below. However, donations made via credit card or PayPal are subject to a transaction fee which does not benefit KBC. So, to have your entire donation go to KBC (a preferable outcome to be sure), please make your donation via check and mail it to Kalamazoo Bicycle Club, P.O. Box 50527, Kalamazoo, MI 49005. Note: some banks allow customers to pay bills electronically; if your bank does this, you will likely need to provide the club’s mailing address.
