What is Bike Camp?
Bike Camp is an award-winning educational and training program for beginning cyclists as well as those who wish to get back into the sport. Designed for adults and minors, 12 and up (those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult), Bike Camp provides many opportunities for families and adults to learn safe and efficient road cycling.
The Details:
- Bike Camp 2023 will be on Saturday, May 20, from 8:00am until 1:00pm
- Held at Wind + James Event Center in Schoolcraft
- Classroom presentation will cover Bicycling Laws, Rules of the Road, Visibility, Bike Fit, and Group Riding
- Online videos will be available covering bike maintenance, flat repair, bike types, bike clothing and accessories, visibility, mirror use, and shifting gears
- Skills and Drills exercises necessary for safe road riding and group riding
- Group rides of about 6, 11, and 16 miles from Wind + James on country roads
- Cost of $25 for individuals, $35 for families, which includes a one-year membership in the Kalamazoo Bicycle Club
- Optional 50% off the registration price of $40 individual, $75 family for KalTour, KBC’s annual tour of Kalamazoo County, on Sunday, June 25, 2023

How much does Bike Camp cost?
- $25 for individuals
- $35 for families (A family is no more than 2 adults with or without children aged 12 to 18.)

- KBC’s Anniversary Party on Saturday, May 20, at 5:30pm, at Wind + James Event Center. Meet KBC folks and enjoy stories from the past year. Enjoy beverages (provided) and potluck dinner.
- KBC Monday Night Ride on May 22, at 6:00pm, at Texas Township Park. More Bike Camp group
rides, with short instruction session. - Pedal Bicycles Instructional Group Rides on Tuesdays, May 23, May 30, June 6, and June 13, at
6:00pm, at the Celery Flats in Portage. Hone your group riding knowledge and skill. Register for the rides by calling Pedal Bicycles at 269-324-5555. Call soon as registration is limited. - KalTour, KBC’s annual tour of Kalamazoo County, on Sunday, June 25th. You get a 50% discount
on registration. You pay $20 individual, or $37.50 for a family.
