KBC will host its annual tour of the Yankee Springs forests to enjoy the changing of the seasons. Routes of 30, 50 and 62 miles are available in the club’s Ride w/GPS library and include the only categorized climb in the library. All turns on all routes will be marked on the pavement and begin at Gun Lake Park. To find it, take 131 north to exit #59, go east, past Shelbyville, until the road ends at Paterson Rd. The parking lot is on the left behind the bank. No fee, no sag support, there are some stops along the way for provisions and The Grove St Cafe in Delton for those who want to stop for lunch. Donuts, cider and snacks will be available at the finish, unless you are really fast and finish before Marc Irwin.
Gilmore Gravel Grand Prix
There are four different race categories and several “Gravel Fundo” categories. There are 80, 63, 41, and 23 miles of four different distances. All entries include a free pass to the Gilmore Car Museum good through December 31st, and the “Gravel Fundo” events also include a free box lunch. The race categories all have a cash purse, and the Pro/Elite races will start at noon, which will create the opportunity for everyone to watch an exciting finish on the oval track inside the museum grounds.

13th Annual Bike to Build Michael Wyllys Memorial Ride
Join us for the 13th Annual Bike to Build bicycle tour through Clinton and Gratiot counties. There are routes from 20 miles to 75 miles on rural country roads with many rest stops, lunch, and an air-conditioned gathering spot after the ride. This ride is a fund raiser for the Clinton-Gratiot Habitat For Humanity, which works throughout the community to build safe, decent, and affordable permanent housing for those in need, and provides critical home repairs and wheelchair ramps to allow families to safely stay in their homes.
KBC 50th Anniversary Celebration
Mark your calendar now for the KBC 50th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, May 21. We will gather at Wind+James, in Schoolcraft, from 5:30 pm until 8:30 pm.
- Wind+James is an indoor-outdoor venue.
- KBC will provide beverages and sandwiches.
- Dinner will be pot-luck, so please prepare and bring a dish to share; a dessert would suffice if that’s what you prefer to provide.
- We’ll have the Gear Swap table again, so think about bringing cycling gear you no longer use and swapping it for gear that’s on the table.
- eBikes will be on display with KBCers on hand to discuss their use.
- We’re planning a short program that will include our usual awards and prizes plus a few celebratory words to commemorate our 50th Anniversary.
- And…we’ll have a slide show of KBC highlights running on a loop during the event. We hope this brings back memories and catalyzes conversations.
