Le Tour de Lane

KBC has organized a fun/goofy event to help “open” and “advertise” and celebrate opening the new Bike Lane on Michigan Ave.  We’re calling it “Le Tour de Lane.” The Start/Finish will be at Pedal North, near the west end of the Bike Lane, where KBC will provide cider and donuts. A few details:

  • The Bike Lane will (almost certainly) be open by Nov. 4th.  The City of Kalamazoo assured us that everything – including bicycle traffic signals – will be operational by the end of October.
  • Pedal welcomed the Start/Finish with open arms.
  • We will have route maps and “experienced” guides for groups to ride Le Tour.
  • If it’s pouring rain or dumping snow we will cancel at the last minute.
  • We hope a few riders will have Go-Pros to record the action, and maybe somebody can find a drone for some overhead shots.
  • Finally…this will be a LOW KEY (slow roll) event.

Friday Morning Women’s Long Ride

We’re having an end-of-the-month women’s long ride Friday, Sept 29th. The ride will start from Prairie Ronde Township Hall, 14050 S. 6th St., Schoolcraft MI 49087 at 9:30am. No bathrooms at the start, we can stop shortly after the start for a nature break if needed. There’s a sag stop at Corey Lake Orchards about 33 miles into the ride where bathrooms along with cider and donuts will be available (bring cash if you’d like to partake). The ride is about 56 miles winding through the beautiful lakes in western St. Joe County and we’ll average 15-16 mph. Hope you can join us!
