KBC 50th Anniversary Celebration Rides

Please join the Kalamazoo Bicycle Club for our celebratory rides to commemorate our 50th year as a bike club serving the Kalamazoo area. The theme is “50” with  50 mile and 50 km rides available. Ride times are 9:00am sharp!

The W Ride

A 48 mile ride on W Avenue.

Pedal Shop Ride

TIME: 6:00PM Meet, 6:15 Ride

WHO: Humans with a road bike

LOCATION: Downtown Version of Pedal

WHAT TO EXPECT:

There are four (4) rides you may choose from:

  • A Ride: This is the 20++ mph ride that’ll travel 27-32 miles, depending on whim and weather. The A ride is not no-drop ride. You might want strong legs, a good sense of direction and flat repair materials when you join the ride.
  • B+ Ride: This ride travels about 18-20 mph and usually takes a 22-mile route. It’s brisk and fun.
  • B Ride: The B ride travels 17-18 mph and usually travels 22 miles. Fun times.
  • No Drop Ride: The no drop ride travels about 15+ mph, depending on attendees. It, too, goes 22 miles. True to its name, you will not be dropped on the No Drop ride.

FYI: Bicycling is inherently dangerous. You might be injured or killed on the ride. By joining the ride you assume those risks. If you don’t assume the risks, don’t ride.

Last minute ride updates — like cancellation due to weather — will be posted on the Pedal Bicycle website events page.

These are rides, not races. Segment hunting is not an approved activity on Pedal’s rides. Similarly, we stop for stop signs. We obey the law. We treat our motorized fellow road users with respect. And we have a great time.

Ride of Silence Tribute Ride/Memorial Ride

The Ride of Silence Tribute Ride is co-sponsored by The Chain Gang, Kalamazoo Bicycle Club, and Bike Friendly Kalamazoo. Depart from Ascension Physical Therapy lot, off Gull Road near Borgess Health and Fitness Center.

  • 6pm prompt departure; arrive 5:45 for waivers
  • slow ride (approx 12 mph) to Memorial; approx 5 miles
  • moment of silence at Memorial

Finish the Ride (total is 28 miles) OR slow ride to return to Ascension (total 10-12 miles)

*If inclement weather, meet at the memorial (Markin Glen park) at 6:30pm for a short remembrance.

Bike Friendly Kalamazoo’s Fall Bike Celebration Bike Tour

Online registration for Sunday’s Bike Tour is on BikeReg.  The ride — with our “two states of mind” Shipshewana Century exploring some of the most memorable experiences in the Amish country of Indiana but all taking you back in time — will take place on Sunday Sept. 18, 2022 starting and ending on the grounds of the charming Vicksburg Historic Village.  All routes include glimpses of the wonderful Vicksburg Quilt Barns. The tour is supported with maps, SAG stops & snacks, clearly marked routes and a great meal awaits at the end!

Kalamazoo (Area) Bike Week

Bike Week underscores the role bicycling plays in building economically strong, and physically and mentally healthy communities. Its value transcends any one event. Our message for bicyclists and motorists alike is to enjoy life by practicing the golden rule while following the rules of the road. We’re in this together!
