Pat McGinnis – City Manager, City of Portage – “Pedaling in Portage” plus a brief  preview of the Bike Corral experiment in Kalamazoo.

George Waring – Civil Engineer, City of Kalamazoo. “Safer Streets – Kalamazoo’s Quest for Safe All-User Access to Our Streets.”

KBC has organized a fun/goofy event to help “open” and “advertise” and celebrate opening the new Bike Lane on Michigan Ave.  We’re calling it “Le Tour de Lane.” The Start/Finish will be at Pedal North, near the west end of the Bike Lane, where KBC will provide cider and donuts. A few details:

• The Bike Lane will (almost certainly) be open by Nov. 4th.  The City of Kalamazoo assured us that everything – including bicycle traffic signals – will be operational by the end of October.
• Pedal welcomed the Start/Finish with open arms.
• We will have route maps and “experienced” guides for groups to ride Le Tour.
• If it’s pouring rain or dumping snow we will cancel at the last minute.
• We hope a few riders will have Go-Pros to record the action, and maybe somebody can find a drone for some overhead shots.
• Finally…this will be a LOW KEY (slow roll) event.
